In this episode, Debi Barr joins me to discuss her book The Call of the Sacred Rebel and the path that led her to write it.

We talk about how the book evolved over time—from early ideas during her corporate career to a later shift toward questioning expectations and choosing a different way of living.

We begin with her earlier work on Reiki, where she shares her perspective that it’s not something you simply do, but something you live. That distinction carries through into this book and the way she approaches both her work and her writing.

In this conversation, we explore:

  •  how easily people can find themselves adapting to expectations without realising it
  •  the role of internal beliefs and emotional patterns in shaping external experiences
  •  the balance between intuition and taking action in everyday life
  •  what it can look like to step forward when being visible doesn’t feel straightforward

Debi also reads selected passages from the book, including reflections on energy, personal memory, and the balance between intuition and action—what she describes as the “mystic” and the “magician.”

We also touch on the writing process itself, including revisiting personal experiences and how that shaped the final book.

This conversation explores themes of self-expression, personal choice, energy, and how internal beliefs can influence the way we experience and shape our lives.

Opening Reading and Intro to Episode

Debi Barr

We've been taught that if we work just hard enough, think positively enough, follow the rules and tick the boxes, everything will fall into place. But the truth is your reality is not shaped by logic. It's shaped by frequency. Everything begins as energy. Before it becomes a result, a relationship, a rejection, a ripple in your life, it starts in the unseen.

Regina Sayer

Thank you for joining this special mini podcast with Debi Barr. I am not actually going to say too much about it, because frankly, I'm a little bit drained. I just finished editing it, and we recorded this back in August of last year. And to be honest, I didn't remember too much of what the content was as Debi was reading from the book and I was feeling things, but it turned out that even editing it, I was feeling things. I literally, at one point when she's reading, there's a part where she reads about the Akashic records. And while I was editing it, I had tears just dripping from my eyes. And I'm not even thinking about anything. So I will leave it to you. There's some really lovely readings that Debi does. I'd be curious to hear what you feel about what evokes in you as she's reading the book. So feel free to leave a comment on social media. And also, it would be really great if you could leave a review on whatever is your podcasting platform that you subscribe to or that you use, because it does help the show to be found by other people when we get more reviews. So thank you so much and enjoy. Hi everyone, and welcome back to another special episode of Wisdom Without the Guru. I'm your host, Regina, and in this special episode, I am joined by former guest, Debi Barr. Now, in a recent episode, Debi shared her story of growing up in Northern Ireland from a young age, experiencing things many others couldn't see, feel, or hear, such as hearing her father's guitar after he passed away and seeing sparkles in the sky, to name a few. These gifts were eventually put aside as life happened in the form of jobs, marriage, kids, divorce, depression, and solace at the bottom of a wine bottle on weekends. Eventually she came full circle back to her loves as a child to uncover, explore, discover, rediscover, and fine-tune them. And now she lives her inner truth, offering services as a spiritual teacher, coach, and mentor. She's authored three books Rocks N Rituals Tarot Tales, The Reiki Solution, and the one we will discuss in depth today called The Call of the Sacred Rebel, a Manifesto for Unapologetic Living. And I quote before we start, This book is a call to arms, a wake-up call, a sacred rebellion against everything that tells you to shrink, to conform, to be anything other than your fullest, wildest, most unapologetic self. It is for those who are tired of the noise, tired of the illusions, tired of feeling numb and disconnected. It is for the seekers, the misfits, the ones who crave depth, meaning, and magic in a world that often feels shallow and mechanical. So welcome, Debi. Thanks for coming back.

Debi Barr

It's my pleasure. Thank you so much for having me back. And I'm so excited to share this story with you. This the book and all the lovely juiciness about being a sacred rebel.

Reiki as Something You Are

Regina Sayer

Yeah, well, before we start that, you know, I didn't realise you'd written this other book about Reiki. And then I looked and it's got like fantastic reviews on Amazon from people who have done Reiki for years or people who are thinking about getting into Reiki. So before we start on that, this book, I just want to touch on that one.

Debi Barr

Oh, that one must be nearly 10 years old now. I think I wrote it first in 2017, and then I did a little update to it, I think in 2019. I often forget I even have that book, and it it was my first one. It's such a tiny book. It was literally written, and for my Reiki students, it was written to help them understand the philosophy behind Reiki because so many of them thought it was something that you do. My philosophy very much is Reiki is something that you are, and that as you learn to work with the energy and you live by the principles and you bring the the actual philosophy of Reiki to life, it then you become Reiki, which is the ultimate goal. And when you become a Reiki master, you will find if if you do the training that the ultimate goal of Reiki is to be Reiki. So I wrote the book to elaborate on living the Reiki way, to bring the principles to life, to actually give examples of how they manifest in real life. Because as I as I've said maybe before, it's one of the soapboxes I like to get on that spirituality is no use if it's not embodied. If you're not actually living it and breathing it, then what's the point? So that's what the book was for. And yet a lot of my students have have read it, have found it very helpful, but other Reiki masters have also found it very helpful as well.

Regina Sayer

Yeah, that's very interesting what you just said, because I think back to my own Reiki training. I don't think that the words, this is what you are and not what you do, ever crossed the lips of my teachers that I remember. Because I just and I thought, hmm, maybe if they'd have said that, I'd have stuck with it.

Debi Barr

And this is the thing. It's been the the cornerstone of my teaching for the last well over a decade now. Reiki literally means universal life force energy. So it is the stuff we are made of, so it is something we are. And what we're doing is just tuning into that frequency even on a cleaner basis so that we can then use that and manipulate that energy for ourselves and for the people that we work with. But ultimately it is something that we are. And if we can't embody it and bring it into our lives, then no amount of waving your hands over someone's going to make a difference. You know, you've got you've got to live it and breathe it in order to be a clear channel.

Origins of Call of the Sacred Rebel

Regina Sayer

So, having got information on that, let's move on to this book. So, what was the idea behind writing this book, other than your like flaming pink hair there?

Debi Barr

Well, this book has been in the making for quite some time. Even whenever after my redundancy and I went back into the world of IT for a little while, something had shifted in me. And I remember sitting at my desk as an IT manager, and it was lunchtime, and I had closed the door and I was having my lunch, and I started to outline what I thought would be the book. And it was going to be called Get Off the Hamster Wheel because that's what it felt like. It felt like I was on a hamster wheel. I started to think about what that might look like, how that book might come about, but I didn't have the life experience or the spiritual experience at that point in order to write it. So it it never really went anywhere. But every now and again it would call to me and I would write a little bit more and then I'd put it away, and then I'd write a little bit more and put it away. And then I parked it for a long time, but it was sitting just circling in the background. It was like this is still here. Last year I was sitting and I thought, you know, I need to bring the book back to life, but Get Off The Hamster Wheel didn't feel like the right thing anymore for me. And as I sat with it and I thought, you know, one of my catchphrases at one point was "spirituality with attitude." And I was like, okay, we're going to go down this road, we'll see. Because I'm not one of the love light and floaty dress spiritual mentors, you know. Um, for those who listen, I wear black, I have pink hair, you know, I listen to heavy metal music. I'm not, I'm not your typical floaty-dressed mentor. So I was like, you know, there's more rebellion in me. It's more of a sacred rebellion, and I thought, that's it. It's the call of the sacred rebel. It's this call to I have a big desire to get people to wake up and realise that they have always got a choice as to how they live their life. We are always given a choice as to how we respond. We may not be able to control the things that are happening to us, but we can choose how we respond, and that in turn shapes our reality. So essentially, the book is that call to arms that you mentioned. It's that call to that sacred rebellion of owning who you are in this crazy world that tries to tell you you have no choice.

Regina Sayer

Who do you think would be the ones who are the most attracted to this?

Debi Barr

Anyone who's ever felt different, anyone who has ever felt like they have been saying yes when they really want to say no, anyone who has felt put in a box, anyone who has felt hemmed in, anyone who has never really been allowed to be themselves or has ever felt brave enough to be themselves. Essentially it is for anyone. Women tend to gravitate towards my work more than men, but I have so many male clients as well who also see themselves in the writings of this book as well, in that sometimes men are told, you know, stiff upper lip and be strong, don't cry, don't show your emotions, and it's so damaging for them. So it's for men, women, everybody. It's for whoever, you know, whoever feels that they have been playing small or they have felt trapped. Essentially, if you've ever whispered the words to yourself, there has got to be more to life than this, then this book's for you.

Spirituality in Everyday Life

Regina Sayer

So it's actually, it sounds like beyond just a label of spirituality.

Structure of the Book

Debi Barr

Oh yeah. It's written from the lens of spirituality because that's my experience. And I think that spirituality is again not something that you do, it is something that you live and breathe. It's you know, it's not about sitting chanting in your room and meditating with a candle lit all day. It's about how you go to the grocery store, it's how you show up and fold your laundry, it's how you drive your car, it's how you you interact with people on a day-to-day basis. It's not this thing that's external to you. So whilst it is framed through a spirituality lens, because that's my industry that I work in, it is very much for humanity, it's very much for the human being, because we are all on this planet, we are all constrained by the three-dimensionality of this world, this physicality that we live in, but there is more to it than just the 3D. There's more than what we see. And I speak an awful lot about energy in the book. I speak about the fact that there is mortal life and it's not just the things that you can physically see, smell, taste, touch, hear. You know, there's so much more out there. Okay. And how is the book structured? The book is structured really into four parts. And I have outlined those at the beginning of the book to give people a bit of a map because I like to know where I'm going when I'm reading something. It's in my human design. I like to I like to know the end results. So it's a path. It is a book that you can pick up and put down if you wish. Um, each section has little reflection points at the end to get you to think about what it is that I've written about to get you to embody it and think about it for yourself. But it's written in four main parts: the awakening. So the sections that help you see through the illusion, that help you recognise the ways where you've been conditioned to play small, or the you know, that moment where you realise I can't unsee this anymore. I've seen the cracks in the matrix. I have to break free. Um, so part two then is that breaking free, shedding the stories that aren't yours, releasing those limiting and inherited beliefs, those expectations from society, reclaiming your own intuition, your own inner voice and the trust in yourself. Part three then steps into that embodiment and mastery. So that's where we talk about rewiring your energy field and understanding how to hold that power once you've figured out that you have access to it. Well, how do we actually hold it? What do we do with it? And learning to walk this spiral path because healing and all this work's not linear, it's a spiral. And then the fourth part is that full expression, that unapologetic living point where you decide that this is who I am now. This is, you know, this is where I own my truth. This is, you know, I'm gonna, I'm gonna live without compromise. I'm actually gonna be the force of change. I am gonna be the change I want to see in the world. So it's split into those four parts. And each bit, as I say, you know, within each section, there's smaller individual chapters, if you will, with little reflection points for you to pause and think and let it integrate. So it's a book that you can work through. You can certainly read through it from start to finish and then come back. And I know that a lot of people who have read it have said that to me. They were like, I didn't want to do the reflection points, I just wanted to read, see what else was coming. And then they've gone back and they've then reread it and started to take notes, which is beautiful.

Writing the Book & Personal Healing

Regina Sayer

And for you in the writing process of this, were you experiencing any kind of healing yourself as you were writing this book?

Debi Barr

Absolutely. I don't think you can write a book, especially one like this that taps into your stories and your past and your memories without there being some sort of healing process attached. Because obviously, as you're as you're sifting through your own memories and you're starting to write them down, it's actually like you've turned on a tap. The more you start to write, the more it comes back. So I was remembering things that maybe I had forgotten. I was, you know, some of them were good, some of them not so good, but I was allowing myself to process what was going on through the written words. So there have been many drafts. There have been many, many drafts of this book. And my poor partner is the one who ended up having to read quite a lot of those and being like, no, that don't not that one. Let's do this and let's move it this way. So she almost became my confidant and my editor at the same time. But yes, there was a lot of healing that comes up, and I think it's important that you give yourself plenty of space if you are going to write a book, that you give yourself the the grace and the space to work through it. So it's not an overnight process.

Regina Sayer

And was there any particular part of the book that was very difficult for you to write?

Debi Barr

I think the bit where I was writing about my mum's passing because I was writing about how I sat with her and held her hand, and that's still very raw because she only passed in 2022. So it's only been two and a half years at the time of this recording since she passed away. And whilst I can talk about my father's passing relatively easily because it was, you know, 1989, it was a long time ago, and I've done a lot of healing work on that. With mum, it's still quite raw. So with mum every now and again, there was, you know, I was crying as I was writing it. When my partner read it, she was in tears because obviously she was very close to my mum as well. So people have said to me when they read that bit, they can feel the emotion. And I think that's a good thing because it's important, I think, for authors not to shy away from the bits that are hard, because it's those bits that may speak to other people. It was also quite difficult as well, sort of writing some of the bits about my own practices and my own stories of the journeys I've had, because sometimes people look at you and they're like, What? And you know, they roll their eyes and they're like, What crazy what have you been smoking? And you're like, these are real experiences I've had in journey work and meditation and healing circles. So I'm sharing them because they're important and they illustrate parts of the journey that I've had. So yeah, there's a couple of bits that were tough.

Regina Sayer

Oh, I hope you're going to read one of those.

Debi Barr

Well, I might. I might.

Regina Sayer

Okay. Having asked you all those questions, now let's get into the reading of the book. So up to you to choose.

Reading: Energy & Internal Patterns

Debi Barr

Oh, let me see. Let me see. I talk a little bit about energy first because I think there's a section in the book um about the energetics. And I think that because that's such a pivotal thing for me in my work and in my teachings, I think it's important that people understand this. So I'll read you a little section from part three, if that's okay. It's called Rewiring Your Energy Field for Expansion. You are an energetic being, and your external reality is constantly reflecting your internal frequency. If you've felt stuck, drained, or like you keep hit hitting the same walls, it's not a flaw in you. It's your energy field running outdated program that was never yours to begin with. This section is about rewiring your field to hold greater capacity for power, for expansion and for truth. So that you don't just break free for a moment, you learn to live free. Before you change your life, you must meet your energy field. We like to believe that reality is solid, tangible, predictable, logical. That gut feeling you get when someone walks into a room. The way your heart sinks in certain conversations before a word is spoken, the repeated patterns you can't seem to break, no matter how hard you try. This isn't bad luck. It's not just how life is. It's pure resonance. It's your energy feeling speaking loudly, clearly, and often unconsciously. Because you live inside a grid. Your thoughts, your memories, your unprocessed emotions, your childhood wounds, your inherited beliefs, your ancestral stories, your past lives if you believe in them. And all of this forms an energetic blueprint, a grid that surrounds and runs through you. It's invisible but it's not inactive. It vibrates, it broadcasts, it quietly tells the universe what's normal for you. And because energy meets energy, what you send out is what you magnetize back. Not because you're being punished, not because you're doing it wrong, but because your energy is remembering its instructions. This is why two people can walk into the same room, launch the same offer, post the same kind of content, and receive wildly different results. One is energetically open, congruent, available, the other is broadcasting. Please don't look too closely beneath the surface. This is not about worthiness. It's about wiring. That little section is something that I think whenever I say things to people like your outer reality is a mirror of what's going on inside, that's what I mean. It's this frequency that we hold within ourselves. So if we have a frequency that we're not good enough, that we're not lovable enough, that we can't do something, then we're broadcasting that. And then the universe, the energetics, we resonate at that frequency and we get more evidence of that. So a lot of the work that I would do and through this book, hopefully try to explain to people is that as you lift yourself up, as you shift the energy and you start to question those voices, those beliefs, you can then shift that frequency into one where you can have the life mirroring back at you what it is that you want. And it's not to say that it'll always be perfect, because of course it won't, but you can sit on a higher level frequency. So that's that's what that little section was about.

Regina Sayer

Do you anywhere in the book give tools how people can lift their energy?

Debi Barr

Absolutely, yes. So with the book, there's a full set of resources. So there's a QR code in the book that you can scan, and there's a set of resources there for.. there's activations, meditations, journaling prompts, there's lots of different things. And in the book itself, there are certain steps and techniques that I have outlined for people so that they can then say, Right, okay, I'm gonna try this, I'm gonna do this. You know, so there are certain points where I ask them to pause and try something to shift their frequency. So yeah, tools dotted throughout the book.

Regina Sayer

Okay, moving on. Next one.

Debi Barr

Next one. Let me see. Let me see. What would you like me to read? Let me see. Oh, there's so many. There's so, so many.

Regina Sayer

Well, I definitely had my curiosity piqued about what you said about some of your experiences that people will think you were an absolutely nutter.

Fear, Visibility & Playing Small - The Witch Wound

Debi Barr

I'll read you this one. This is a a soul memory from the Akashic Records. So I was doing a lot of Akashic Records work. So the Akashic Records are it's an energetic space, which it depends on your on how you approach it yourself. A lot of people um believe that it's a repository of everything that ever was, everything that is, and everything that will be. It's like a hall of records, if you will, written from the point of view of just a recording of everything that's happened, almost like a court stenographer that just types, you know, this is what happened today. There's no judgment, it's pure fact, you know, and then we can jump in and out as we will as practitioners in the field. There's also um a concept that perhaps it is a collection of the collective consciousness as well, that we have access to the collective memories of others. So whether you believe in past lives or not, there's there's something in the records that will assist you, and there are your records that resonate with your frequency. So this was one that I have called the apothecary's basement in the book. It's a soul memory from the Akashic Records. And it begins with a quote Next time I will not be silent, next time I will use my voice. It was a quiet morning when I stepped into the records. The air felt thin, expectant. I had cleared the space, softened my body and grounded into my presence. My intention was simple to understand my path more deeply. What healing still needed to happen for me to fully embody my role as an Akashic guide? What message am I here to carry? As the Merkaba lifted me into my sacred space, the familiar vision folded to the left, nature, trees, daisies, bird songs, to my right along the path, the infinite cosmos, the stars, the galaxies, the swirling gold dust. Ahead the golden portal glowing with rainbow light. I spoke my path by prayer, offered my intention, and left ego at the threshold. My guide Sage was there, as always, warm, wise, timeless. And he led me to a new place, a vast viewing gallery filled with endless screens, each one flickering with a different version of me. Lifetime stretched in all directions, some familiar, some foreign. I saw myself as a teacher, a student, a leader, a follower. Each life carried its own lessons, but always the thread running through them all was healing. Always healing. Sage turned to me and said, This time you are the channel, the messenger. It is no longer your path to hide. Your work must be seen. And that's when my throat tightened. Something old and deep stirred in my chest. A memory was surfacing. He showed me a lifetime Scotland in the fourteen hundreds, a suit dark city filled with the smoke of hearth fires and the weight of suspicion. I was a woman with ink stained fingers and fire in her belly. I ran a small apothecary shop selling tinctures and remedies. People came across the city because they worked. Not just because of the herbs, but because I quietly blessed each one in the hidden basement below. That basement was where the tree work happened, sacred work, moonlit gatherings with my sisters, rituals, healing spells. We whispered our magic in secret because it was dangerous to be powerful. And then came the raids. My shop was destroyed, I was dragged from my home, imprisoned, beaten, questioned. And when I refused to betray my sisters I was sentenced to hang. And I remember the cold morning light, the gallows, the fear in the eyes of those who had once come to me for help, now too afraid to intervene. I remember the fire in my belly even as I approached death, and I remember the vow I made. Next time I will not be silenced. Back in the records I wept. Sage looked at me and said, This is the lifetime you made that vow for. This is the time to use your voice. And I asked him, But how do I speak without sparking violence? How do I lead without fear? And that's when Diana the warrior goddess stepped forward. Her voice was firm but loving. You're not here to start battles. You're here to provoke curiosity, to light fires, to wake people up. Sage reminded me that this lifetime is different, that the tools of communication, books, digital platforms, global connection are now at my fingertips, and he brought my attention back to the book I'm writing, saying simply this is how the message spreads, get it into the world. Before I closed the records, I asked about money and pricing and the discomfort I still feel around wealth. And he showed me that even in that old lifetime I had given freely, often to my own detriment, and that the association between visibility and danger, between wealth and destruction still lived in my body. But I'm ready to clear it now. I'm ready to remember that success does not mean sacrifice, that this time I can rise and still be safe. The basement no longer needs to be hidden. The magic no longer needs to be secret, and I no longer need to be silent. I returned to my body with a soft landing, but something fundamental had shifted. This lifetime is the fulfilment of that ancient vow. And I am ready to speak.

Regina Sayer

I gotta tell you, when you're reading about the part about being dragged out, I started to feel a bit panicky.

Debi Barr

It's a common thing, it's the witch wound, and even you could hear my voice, like even with the work I've done, my voice still the this is very common amongst um people doing this work. It's not just exclusive to women because men were also hanged as witches or burned as witches, you know. So we have this witch wound, we have this fear of being seen, and it's a collective wound that we all need to face. And I think in today's society, with the the weight of fear and vulnerability, you put yourself out online, and there's so many trolls, there's so many ways where people can shout you down and can can potentially hurt you, that it triggers this fear because even though we may not consciously remember it in our mind, our body remembers. It's still in our cells, it's in our aura, it's in our energetic field. And I think it's really important. So there's quite a lot of witch wound work done throughout the book because it was something that I was working on very much so at the time as I was writing it.

Regina Sayer

One of the actual things that I had when I used to sense things all of a sudden, like I was watching a program and I could feel, could just feel it coming, because they were getting ready to burn a witch or I didn't even know that's what they were gonna do, but I could feel it. And I just went into one of these panic type of things where energy used to just course through my body and I could feel my consciousness kind of like step outside of my body and just witness it, and then it would be over. There was no residual, it would be over, but it was like in the moment it was horrific.

Debi Barr

It is it it's a visceral response that we have, and I think it's really important that you're held through that work, that you, you know, you're you're work with someone who has done the work as well so that they can experience it with you and walk through it with you, because it's so it affects so many of us, and I have seen so many brilliant people be too afraid to step into the light, and they've just played small, they've stayed small because of it, and it's it's tragically sad when that happens because that feeling that you have is real, that energy is real, and it's it's almost fragments of our soul step away. What we need to do is integrate them and bring them back and have the healing, and we need to work through the forgiveness as well. There's a lot, a lot of work that needs to be done with each of us in this field.

Regina Sayer

Yeah, somebody who I respect immensely told me that she felt I had PTSD from having experienced so many things in other lives. But one thing I do want to I want to mention is so you're talking about this sort of this persecution for doing what you do and this discomfort for doing what you do. And yet when you first started, you were also had to be very careful because of you said that you were only doing like reflexology and aromatherapy because those were the accepted things. And then also because to this day you still have people who come and knock on doors and say, Oh, what are you doing in there?

Akashic Records Explained

Debi Barr

Yeah, very much so. Um, as I look back, when I first started out, I can see that that was again the witch wound playing out. It was the rather than stand and go, no, I own this. I am a Reiki teacher and I work with crystals and I work with energy. I allowed myself to play small. I allowed myself to go, I'll just train in reflexology and do massage and aromatherapy as well. I never wanted to do that. It wasn't what lit me up. I had some beautiful, lovely clients, but I didn't want to be standing massaging people all day. That wasn't what I came here to do. But I can see that that's where I was playing that role still, that I'll just hide behind this. It was like that was the shop front. And in the basement was Reiki and Crystals, and you know, but once people got to know me, I would introduce the Reiki, the crystals, and then would you like me to pull a card for you? But I can see clearly now it was like it's exactly the same thing playing out in this lifetime. So it's beautiful that I have managed to actually break that and say, no, actually, this is who I am now. This is who I am, and there's always work to do. I mean, you could hear it in my throat, there's still work to do. There's always work to do. As you step into the next level and you start putting yourself out even more publicly, then there's more work, more unpicking needs to be done back into the records. What else do I need to understand? That's the role of the records, is it's not to change what happened. It's never to change what happened, it's to have an awareness, and with that awareness then comes responsibility. Because with responsibility, then you can choose to do something differently this time. So it's a it's a very compassionate space of feeling that energy, understanding what happened, and giving yourself the grace then to work through it with the tools that you have at your disposal, with your mentor, with your guide, or with your own, you know, your own sort of evolution team, whatever way you like to work, but work through it, you must.

Regina Sayer

Speaking about the Akashic records, can anybody access those, or do you need to have somebody access them for you? Or learn, obviously, learn how?

Debi Barr

It's good practice to learn how to do it, to do it safely. Um but ultimately the Akashic Records, um your Akashic records belong to you, so you your energy unlocks them, so your intention to go and explore will unlock them. Akashic Records have a gatekeeper, which your gatekeeper that holds access to your records. Because obviously, you don't want any Tom Dick or Harry rocking into your past life and into your energetic field and into those energies. So there is a gatekeeper there that will only let you into your field. So they are perfectly safe. However, it does require a little bit of work because you need to know how to grind yourself properly, you need to know how to create the sacred space in order to get to the records, how to raise your vibration in order to match the vibration of the records in order to enter the space. You can have them read for you. So in that instance, it would be say, for example, I was reading yours, I would lead you into the space, and we would go together to your gatekeeper, and your gatekeeper then would per with your permission would permit me access, but it's on your terms. So it would be like I allow her to come into the records at that point. I would be shown what I was allowed to see in order to help you for your highest and greatest good at that point, and then we would step out. So it's very much about the intention. So yes, you can do it yourself. It is best if you have some training first before doing it, just before you launch in. But there are lots and lots of good books out there. Linda Howe has a great book about reading the Akashic Records. There's so many resources there. I would avoid the TikTok resources and the um quick fix resources that you find on YouTube or things like that, and go down a more stable path because it's very much about creating that that grounded presence here so that you are anchored here on Earth because you're still a human being, and then you're sending your consciousness into the records and bringing it back here. So it is a bit of an advanced skill, but you can do it yourself, yeah.

Regina Sayer

Okay. So what's the next thing you're gonna read for us? We have time for one more reading.

Debi Barr

We have time for one more. What sort of thing would you like? What do you think?

Regina Sayer

Is there a part in the book that some people might have difficulty swallowing?

Reading: The Mystic & The Magician

Debi Barr

Probably all of it. I mean, I think if um I think if anyone was not open to this level of work, then they're not gonna, you know, they're they're gonna find the whole book difficult to swallow. I don't think there's anything in particular that would push people except maybe where I refer to life being a bit of a matrix. I do have um I have a little piece here about the dance of the mystic and the magician, so like the masculine and feminine interweaving that I could read for you if you want, about how we need both.

Regina Sayer

Oh, definitely.

Debi Barr

You like that bit? It's quite lengthy, but I'll read just bits of it, I think, rather than the whole thing, otherwise we'll be here all day. This chapter's called The Return of the Mystic and the Magician. I'll start maybe just a little bit through the chapter. The mystic in you has always known. She is the ancient one behind your eyes, the priestess who speaks in dreams, the one who speaks the language of energy fluently, instinctively, quietly. She hears what others dismiss, she feels what others fear. She walks between the worlds with bare feet and open palms, trusting what cannot be seen but is always there. She lives in the body, in the stillness, in the whispers between breaths. She knows things she was never taught. She remembers truths that were never written. She is the reason you pause before entering a room, the reason you know something's off even when everything looks fine on paper. She's the one who nudges you awake at 333 AM with a message from your dreams. The mystic is your bridge to the unseen, not just to spirit guides and synchronicities, but to your own deep inner truth. She is the part of you that doesn't just want success, she wants soul aligned success, meaning, integrity, resonance. And then there is the magician, the one who builds, the one who acts, the one who alchemizes energy into form. He is the part of you that says, Let's do this. That takes the raw clay of emotion, thought, will, and energy and turns it into something tangible a creation, a business, a boundary, a life. The magician doesn't wait for permission. He knows that creation is your birthright. He channels fire through his fingers, commands focus like a sword, and weaves intention into everything he touches. But don't mistake him for a productivity pusher or a patriarchal shell of action. The true magician is not here to dominate. He's here to devote, to hold a structure for the mystic's magic to rise, to honour her vision and bring it into being. This is the sacred masculine in his healed form. He doesn't silence the feminine, he amplifies her. He doesn't fear emotion, he works with it. He doesn't suppress energy, he moves it. Together these two aspects of you are not at odds. They are essential complements, not opposing forces, but twin flames of creation. The mystic receives a vision, the magician brings it to life. The mystic needles to the mastery, and the magician channels it into reality. The mystic feels, the magician focuses. One surrenders, the other shapes. And when these two walk hand in hand, you stop waiting, you stop overthinking, you stop chasing alignment and you become it. This is sacred power, sovereign power. Power that doesn't need to scream or prove because it radiates. And here's the real magic. You don't need to find these archetypes because they're already in you. If you've ever known something before you had evidence, that was your mystic. If you've ever taken brave action on a soul nudge, that was your magician. They've always been there waiting for you to remember, waiting for you to stop choosing one over the other, waiting for you to realise you are both the dreamer and the doer, the seer and the speaker, the mystic and the magician. And when you rise as both, you don't just survive this life, you shape it. It goes on for a little while to talk about then the one being yin, one being yang, one being the moon, one being the sun, and about what happens when one is overdeveloped, what happens when one is suppressed, and I talk about why we need both, you know, because without having both, we have an unbalanced, an unbalanced state of being, but it's just a little flavour of what's to come in that section of the book.

Interpreting Signs & Personal Meaning

Regina Sayer

Hmm. Yeah, while you were reading that and you said at 3:33 in the morning, I'm thinking to myself, what is this universe trying to tell me right now through this woman? Because I when I walk, I update my my walking app and I have to look back at Delaize, which is a shop here, and it shows how many points you have for purchases. Well, for days, it's just been on 333.

Debi Barr

I love it.

Regina Sayer

I mean, when I hear things like that, I think, oh, this is just no coincidence.

Debi Barr

There's never a coincidence. It's always a sign, there's always synchronicities. So sit with it, see what it means, do some research on those numbers for yourself and see what comes up.

Regina Sayer

Yeah, that's the thing, is I'm very, very careful about doing research on things like that because I don't want what other people's beliefs to influence what I could pick up. So I'm like that with dreams. I don't like referring to dream dictionaries because I mean I know just from living in different countries that red, for example, in Asia means one thing, whereas here it means anger, and it has more of a negative undertone. Whereas there, you know, it's about wealth and prosperity, and it's it's a really good thing. I try to find within myself what it means giving what I already currently have, rather than flipping through and going, okay, well, according to the angel numbers, 333 means the Trinity, which I know.

Debi Barr

Exactly. It's so important, but that's and that's something that I wrote in in the in the tarot book is you know, this is not a book for me to tell you how to read the tarot. This is a book for me to explain the symbolism, for you to understand it in your way, because that's how I would teach the cards, for example, to people. I would say to them, throw the guidebook away and trust yourself. Because for some people, like you say, you know, the colours that's a perfect example of it. And you know, for other people, it could be, you know, they see a boat on the water, and for them that could be exciting. And for other people who are terrified of water or boats, that could be fear, you know. So it very much depends on how you feel and what's jumping out at any point for you. So it's perfect that you do the work inwardly and check in with yourself. And this is the thing that I try to get through in the Call of the Sacred Rebel is we are made of star stuff. We are made of the entire wisdom of the universe. Everything we need is inside ourselves. We already have all the answers in here, so we don't need to go outside looking for them. Do we need support along the way? Do we need someone to hold a mirror up for us? Do we need a coach? Do we need a guide? Yes, we all do. Because we can't see our own blind spots, but we do have the answers inside ourselves, and we need to learn to trust ourselves first before we go looking for answers elsewhere.

Where to Find the Book and What’s Next

Regina Sayer

Okay, so where can we find this book? And the other two?

Debi Barr

They're all on Amazon, either as paperbacks or Kindle. Quite a number of people have asked me for an audio version of this Call of the Sacred Rebel, so that will happen at some point. I just need to make that happen. But for the minute, they are available on Amazon across the world in all territories, um, so just your local Amazon, and you can choose either paperback or Kindle.

Regina Sayer

Okay. And I just want to bring this to mind because I think I spoke to you about this, and you said that you are thinking about an Oracle or Tarot deck that accompanies this book.

Debi Barr

So I have a 44-card Oracle deck planned to follow the sacred spiral of this book. Um, I am also an artist, so the plan is that I will hand paint these images. So this will not be something that happens quickly. But yeah, the book resources, there's a place where you can add your name and email address if you want to be kept notified whenever they come up. So for anyone who buys the book and who uses the book resource list, you can uh you can jump on a waiting list there for them.

Regina Sayer

Okay. And just to remind everybody once again, where can you be connected with?

Debi Barr

You can find me on Facebook. So if you just search for uh Debi Barr, you'll find me on Facebook and on LinkedIn as well. You'll also can find me on the website which is rocksnritals.co.uk. So it's Rocks R-O-C-K-S N and then Rituals R-I-T-U-A-L-S.co.uk. So you can find me there and find links to the book and everything else.

Regina Sayer

One last question. You said you're on LinkedIn. When I think about LinkedIn, I think about these really, you know, corporate places.

Debi Barr

It's changed.

Regina Sayer

Yeah, it's changing. Yeah. I just curious how how you felt about it.

Debi Barr

It's actually one of my favourite places to hang out now. It's actually a far cleaner place to hang out than Facebook or any of the other social medias. It's evolving into a space where people, yes, you still have you still have the stuffed shirts and you still have some of the very corporate people, but um there are people like me who show up rocking pink hair and cheeky attitudes that are kind of mixing it up a little bit on LinkedIn, and it's actually quite refreshing. And a lot of people are engaging with that because they want to connect. So if you use it from the point of view of going in to have actual conversations with people and real life um chats with folks, as opposed to using it as somewhere to pitch slap, as I like to call it. Rather than doing that, if you actually build real conversations and relationships with people, it can be a lovely space to hang out.

Regina Sayer

Yeah, yeah. I've actually started noticing a little bit of difference because there's the emotional intelligence network, which I think is fantastic. And then some of the guests also that I've had on the show, they actually have their page. So I'm gonna go follow you now now that I know you're on there.

Debi Barr

Yeah, you'll find me just under my name, Debi Barr.

Regina Sayer

Okay, cool. All right. So thank you so much. That was very informative and um very interesting and sounds like a book that I might get on my Kindle. I definitely won't be have having it delivered because it's ridiculous what they cost to deliver now. And besides, every time I move, that's a chunk of paper in books that has to move with me. So I've started doing everything on Kindle these days.

Debi Barr

Yeah, I hear you.

Regina Sayer

So I'll be very interested to know when the Oracle card does make its appearance. Maybe we could do another mini about that when it does appear.

Debi Barr

Yeah, why not?

Regina Sayer

Yeah. Anyway, so listeners, thank you for tuning in. And I hope that you will check out the book and check out the other two books as well. Especially, you know, if you're doing Reiki or you're interested in Reiki, because that sounds like a very, very different view of Reiki. It could be interesting for people. And get back to Debi if you do get it and read it, and let her know what you thought. And of course, don't forget to leave a review on the Amazon or wherever you bought it.

Debi Barr

Absolutely. Yes, please.

Regina Sayer

Okay. Have a fantastic day. Thanks again, Debi. And until the next time. Bye.

Debi Barr

Bye. Thank you.
